Lesse... boxed set in 81, so only 23 years for me.
Paramount Pictures announced that it will delay the release of its (eventually) upcoming Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow to Sept. 17 from June 25.

Now, just to display my geek prowess, I feel compelled to mention that not only have I read the Lord of the Rings fifteen times, I read the Silmarillion four times.
And I enjoyed doing it.
This doesn't make me more of a fan or more geek than thou -- I think the trick to reading the Silmarillion isn't to approach it as a novel, but as a book on mythology. As a book on mythology, it kicks ass, but that has to be what you're in the mood for, and what you expect to get.
That said, it's certainly not for everyone, but now (via BoingBoing), I present THE ENTIRE SILMARILLION IN ONE THOUSAND WORDS.
ILUVATAR: Ahem.
AINUR: Wow! Existence!
ILUVATAR: *blows pitch pipe* LA!
AINUR: LA LA LA!
ILUVATAR: LA LA!
AINUR: LA LA!
MELKOR: This sucks. BUM BUM BA DUM!
AINUR: Um. . . la?
ILUVATAR: Ahem. LA!
MELKOR: Boop bop-a-doo-bop!
ILUVATAR: LA, dammit.
MELKOR: Bwam bardle ningle boom.
AINUR: . . .
ILUVATAR: Right, you're out of the band.
MELKOR: Fine, I was leaving anyway.
From what I understand, and this is by no means assured, the WB is going to screen an episode of "Wonderfalls" when they screen their pilots. We of course would hope they'd love what see so much that they'd add "Wonderfalls" to their schedule. Unlikely, but that's a dream. When speaking about "netlet" Bryan was talking about a cable situation, not unlike Bravo picking up Keen Eddie and airing produced episodes. So the chances are fair to good that our 13 will see the light of some day. I'm still angling for a DVD release as well.
The best way to see Kill Bill is to watch Volume 1 and then go right to the theatre and watch Volume 2.
Tarantino did it again. Wow. Wow wow.
And my my, David Carradine. Very impressive acting chops -- very nice delivery. Very poised. Man finally got his crap together. I'd almost say Tarantino (aside from making a great movie) resurrected another dead acting career.
And of course, there's that brilliant theme song.
See, when you rush home to catch the new Alias episode, you need to make sure that the new episode is on at it's normal time, not at 9 pm to make room for the Nick and Jessica Variety Hour, because otherwise you're in for some emotional scarring.
Hellboy: How bad could it have been?
"An executive said to me, 'What about a regular actor who gets angry and turns into Hellboy?' " said del Toro, wrinkling his face in disgust. "I go, 'That's ... not ... very good."Then they would say, 'What if you call him Hellboy and he comes from Hell and all that, but he looks like a guy?' Then they would suggest things like, 'Can he have a Hellmobile?' 'Can he have a dog? A pet dog that comes from hell and is red?'
Man did they dodge bullets on this thing to get it made.
Apparently Wonderfalls got great ratings in Canada, and Global (Fox equivalent) is considering buying the series. Hey, if it does well in Canada, there is a good chance it could go out on DVDs.
For those of you who saw and (justifiably) loved Hellboy, this is the trade paperback that the movie's based on.
For even more Hellboy goodness, I direct you to the "You may also be interested in these items..." section below the main blurb.
For those who haven't seen it -- go see it. If you're the sort of person who's been able to put up with this site for any length of time, you will friggin' love this movie.
Unless you don't like Firefly... I have no idea about you people.
Wonderfalls has been moved to the Fox Thursday night schedule, following the (hitting it's stride?) Tru Calling. cancelled, because Fox execs are stupid rat bastards.
Ahem.
